Number of the Month: February 2020
Nowhere is it explained how this is possible given an average daily media usage of 585 minutes (source: Statista statistics portal). Television is considered one of the most popular media in Germany and ranks far ahead in terms of media usage. On television, fewer than 100 advertisements are broadcast per hour—assuming you don’t turn it off. About 80% of people watch TV regularly. Next comes radio, which 65% of Germans use regularly, followed by the internet at 63%. To reach the figure of 3,000, an average of six advertisements would have to be broadcast per minute.
A more realistic figure is between 300 and 500 advertising messages per day, which is still a large number and a challenge for any company. Ad blindness is a reality, and especially online, more and more users are reducing the number of ads they see by using ad blockers. Only those who manage to stand out from the crowd, convince customers, address them in a way that’s tailored to their target audience, and provide information—rather than simply bombarding customers with ads—will succeed with their “advertising.”
